Art

Paris is a mecca for art students. The Louvre and the Quai d’Orsay have some of the most famous paintings in the world, while the Pompidou Centre houses excellent collections of surrealism and cubism. The Picasso Museum is housed in a former mansion and traces the artist’s development throughout his long life.

History

The WW1 Vimy Ridge war memorial in the Somme is a very moving and educational experience for students. Many groups stop en route to Paris for a visit to the cemetery and visitor centre.

Sport

The Stade de France is a huge modern stadium in north east Paris and is home to the French national football and rugby teams. We can prebook a one hour guided tour of the pitch and changing rooms including Thierry Henry’s locker!

Science / ICT

La Cité des Sciences at La Villette in north east Paris is one of the world’s largest science museums. As well as an Ariane rocket and an attack submarine, the museum also hosts the Géode – a huge geodesic dome housing France’s first Omnimax cinema.

Religious Studies

The Notre Dame Cathedral and the Sacré Coeur Basilica provide contrasting styles of ecclesiastical architecture. Notre Dame is a gothic masterpiece, started in 1163 while the Sacré Coeur is Romano-Byzantine style and was completed in 1914.
